CHARLIE: "Healing Diets allowed me to realize a few things: First, I discovered I have made many positive changes in my life concerning my diet that are affecting my overall well being as well as that of the planet. I also discovered that there are many more simple and shockingly obvious things yet to be done.

I will no longer lend any legitimacy to many of the myths surrounding meat consumption in our culture. It was fascinating and exciting to learn that we can get all the protein we need and probably more from a plant based diet. It is amazing to me how few people realize how unnecessary and definitely harmful animal foods are to our health and the Earth and obviously to the animals. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with people and to applying it to my life.

I think the most immediate impact of the knowledge gained here for me will be eliminating dairy products from my diet.  They don't make me feel great and now I know they have adverse health effects as well, plus I have experienced the deliciousness and vitality of seed and nut milks I now believe can wholly replace animal diary products.

I enjoyed the information regarding new foods – how to prepare them and their many health benefits. I did not realize before this course the amount of nutrients and life force that leave foods when they are cooked! It makes me glad that I have always loved and craved salads and it excites me to greatly expand my raw food repertoire!

The information about cleansing and fasting and colon cleansing was eye-opening. I now know that the mucus in my sinuses comes directly from my digestive system (as do many diseases). It really is astonishing the extent wo which we can heal our bodies, minds, spirits and Mother Earth simply by becoming mindful of what we eat! Thanks! FARIDA: I too love teaching this class, total fun in the kitchen. Each day we began with a different seed and nut milk flavored with fruit and spices, followed by transitional meals I love to call Raw Toss, a fine way to toss sprouts, dandelion, arugala and other wonderful greens and tasty vegetables in a quinoa shitake grain, a potatato, onion and carrot steamed mix or a finely chopped cabbage base with sparkling spices and herbs – the best way to transition into a new way of eating, living and being!! Then there are the absolutely fabulous salads containing a wide world beyond lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and of course energy soup. We all felt clearer and brighter and the laughter and joy and humor around our meal table was a delight to share with such bright young souls seeking truth and their highest potential!

The students also watched May I Be Frank, Forks Over Knives, and Gabriel Cousens' Green Live Food Cuisine DVD's - The great thing about waking up is you feel awake and alive!!!

Our Healing Diets II class end of July also includes a day with Madeline Angelus on the enteric nervous system, colonics, the Gerson diet and much more, along with two days with Brigitte Mars on cultured and dehydrated foods, and live, raw, living foods and much more of course!

SELF HEALING SUCCESS FROM A NATUROPATHY STUDENT - A WOMAN WHO WAS TOLD SHE WOULD NEVER GET PREGNANT IS PREGNANT

Last year at our School of Natural Medicine Naturopathy Retreat near Ithica NY, Naturopathy student, Maggie, from Connecticut, connected with a woman who wanted to get pregnant and they decided to work together on a case history. I also checked the Iridology and Natural Medicine consultation after Maggie's time with her, and supported and guided Maggie through some months of inspiration, program creation and follow up. This is the success story of her first case history. Impressive!

Dear Farida,
    Happy news!  My client, who is in her late 30's, was told by multiple doctors that she would never be able to conceive naturally, and that her only recourse would be to try IVF. Well, she has shown them that natural medicine works -- she is 4 months PREGNANT! 
    She started her healing program in August of 2011, and diligently followed every part of it -- living foods healing diet, herbal formulas, Bach flower essences to heal emotional wounds and energy. She also used Naturopathic treatments -- castor oil packs, colonics and enemas, massage, reflexology, and skin scrubbing -- to detox and return her body to health. She used Serenitea to help her relax at night, and was able to sleep through the night for the first in years. GARDEN OF SOULS BLOOMING & BLOSSOMING

Spring is a dance of the elements, earth, water, warmth and air bringing forth the ether of beauty, greening and renewal. I sit in the garden dreaming of the new cycle of students and classes for this spring session and imagine the harvest of advanced students during their learning growing healing experiences at our annual Naturopathy retreat in July and Clinical Training in August.

This year we feature two Herbal Medicine immersions, one in July and one in August, the optimum time to commune with plants.

I enjoy the fragrance of lilac, bird song, blossoming trees and spring flowers as I prepare to welcome the garden of souls, the bright spirits of young students who will walk the path into their evolutionary self healing.

The garden waits in fullness for the laughter and sharing of students. April builds a new patio under two blossoming back garden trees, better for the shade - I shop for a wooden table and benches.

Enrollment blossoms. So many inquiries and students coming to visit. Charlie Angelo joins Reflexology I today.

SNM GRAD BEGINS HER OWN HEALTH COACH BIZ

The beautiful, Cheri, graced our classes last spring and summer, and then returned to California where she found a study program of nutritional coaching to help her start her own business, web site and all Omni Tree Healing

"I am Cheri Rosser owner of Omnitree Healing. I knew early on that I wanted to work in the healing arts. I chose psychology as my major in college and earned my BA in the spring of 2011. I learned quite a lot about suffering, all that was wrong with people, and the world as a reflection. I spent years listening to lectures that left me feeling cynical, disappointed and overwhelmed.

I was also suffering with my own mental and emotional issues. Chronic anxiety and debilitating panic attacks had become a normal part of my existance. No matter how many psychology classes I took or how many professional I spoke with, my anxiety remained. I wanted to heal, but not with all the pills doctors handed to me so carelessly. Life was a constant struggle but I carried on.

I knew I wanted to continue my education but the thought of going to graduate school to learn more about behavior disorders and psychological torture was unattractive to say the least.

I went in the opposite direction of many psychology students and spent the summer studying natural medicine at The School of Natural Medicine in Boulder, CO. It was an incredible experience where I studied herbal medicine, healing diets, naturopathy and flower essences. There I was placed on a self healing program which included dietary changes, herbs, detoxing techniques and many healing modalities, as well as incredible love and support from my teacher, Farida Sharan, and fellow classmates.

For the first time in my life I was given the answers I was so desperately seeking. I began to heal and calm down from the inside out. It was a miracle, and more simple then anything I could have imagined. I returned in the fall with a new love and passion for food. Through my education I discovered the incredible healing powers of each bite we take.

Returning to California, I enrolled at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. It is an incredible program where I have learned not only major theories on diet and lifestyle but the depth of food as medicine.

Through natural healing I have discoved a sense of peace and purpose that I would have never imagined possible. My mission is to take my experiences and share them with others."

 

NAVRUZ - TAJIKI NEW YEAR CELEBRATION -DUSHAMBE TEA HOUSE BOULDER - OUR GRADUATE, DILA, IS MC - AND WE DANCE!!!

I attended the Tajikistan Navruz New Year Celebrations at the Dushame Tea House, in Boulder Colorado, enjoyed the amazing and wonderful dance performances, and danced myself! Dila welcomed me by inviting me onto the dance floor, and what a lovely time to share with a graduate as her life, work and world open up after nearly three years of part-time study and self-healing.

Dila reports that new Healing Diets Counselor position at the Dental Health clinic in Denver is going well: "I am getting ready my First Healing Diet Educating class which is gonna be on Monday 9th, and the topic is 'Importance of Balanced pH on Oral and Systemic Health.' I am so excited about it! I made a very good Power Point presentation."

Dila is meeting this week with Julie (another naturopathy student) and her mother, Mary Bolles, at the Sensory Learning Institute in Niwot about working there with the system Dila developed for assisting autistic and ADD children to touch, communicate and relate based on Reflexology, Essential Oils, Flower Essences and Dila's unique movement exercises, combined with diet change.

SNM GRAD CREATES ACADEMY OF HEALING DIETS IN DEVON, ENGLAND

Bonny Casel has opened The Academy of Healing Diets in Torquay, Devon, England as a complement to School of Natural Medicine classes in the UK. A superb series of classes takes all levels of students to gain expertise in healthy delicious and creative meals for health building and healing diets.

This course was developed by Bonny Casel to provide students and practitioners of alternative and complimentary medicine with a thorough education in the often neglected area of diet for health and healing. HEALING DIETS II - TRANSFORMING HABITS, ADDICTIONS & CRAVINGS WITH TRANSITIONAL DIETS

Delicious! Colorful! Fragrant! Tasty! Fun! These are the comments the students make as six budding artist 'Healing Diet Counselors' play with our palette of fresh organic fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. We start with first day with sunflower seed milk flavored with vanilla and cardamon.

After discussing addictions we prepare a transitional (part cooked - part raw living food) with the idea to inspire our clients to see how easy it is to prepare beautiful healthy healing meals.

On the menu: steamed quinoa with shitake, ginger, garlic and shallots with glorious golden cauliflower florets lightly steamed, accompanied by a beet, sauerkraut herb lemon salad delight and a crunch romaine arugla avocado fresh herb green onion red and yellow pepper salad - all delightfully seasoned. We watch 'Let Me Be Frank" movie - fantastic story of Cafe Gratitude transformation from healing diets and natural therapies combined with loving support showing anyone can do this!!! YES!!!!

On the second day, we dive deeper into understanding addicitons, learning how to ask questions, take cases, discuss mono, vegan, living food, transitional diets after we make pumpkin seed milk flavored with cardamon honey cinnamon and vanilla.

Our meal is millet transformed into Millet Mexicana accompanied by raw zunnini spaghetti with basil tomato herb marinara. Then we watch a movie of Gabriel Cousens teaching the basic principles of low glycemic diets and spiritual nutrition on the Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine protocols.

Sunday and Monday it is up to Natasha Henry's mountain home for cultured foods, dehydrated foods, mineral dense green foods and much more. Lucky students! Happy days at School of Natural Medicine in Boulder, Colorado. Last class of the spring session and the autumn session begins July 29th with Herbal Medicine II followed by Flower Essence, Iridology, Naturopathy, Healing Diets, Reflexology and Essential Oils classes.

DETOX TEA REMEDY & RADIATION PROTOCOLS

Spring is here, radiation has increased worldwide due to the Japan nuclear disaster, soit is an excellent time to cleanse and put preventive measures into daily routines.

Detox Tea by Farida Sharan ND MH AHG

Equal parts: borage leaves, burdock root, dandelion root, gotu kola herb leaves and stems, licorice root, nettle leaves, red clover blossoms, red raspberry leaves, uva ursi leaves, yellow dock root.

Directions: 1 tsp per boiling water poured over if all powdered; if roots are not powdered simmer very gently for 15 minutes, then steep with leaves. 1 cup or more per day for a gentle spring activation of all the eliminative channels.

RADIATION PROTOCOLS: alkalinize your system with alkaline foods, vegetable green juices and energy soup, alkalinize your water with drops from the health food store & eat high amounts of the follow foods to build up your system and protect against increased radiation.

SEAWEEDS: kelp, dulse, wakame, raw nori

IODINE: high iodine such as Swiss chard, turnip greens, wild garlic and onions, watercress, squash, mustard greens, spinach, asparagus, kale, citrus, watermelon and pineapple; high mineral content foods in leafy green vegetables.

RAW MISO: is a food that has been acclaimed as a general protector against radiation sickness.

BEETS: raw beet juice has been successfully used to prevent radiation-induced cancers.

 HD II made me feel like a child in a candy store. Iit was hard to let of the old way of preparing foods, and letting go of foods that are not really that good for me. This class opened up a whole new world, with endless ways of how to prepare and make alive, healthy, good tasting, vibrant foods. HEALING DIETS DIVINELY DELICIOUS FOODS

Transition Diets on our first day included process where students worked with lists of foods they love, foods that are good for them, their food cravings and foods that are the worst for them as preparation for creating a food shopping list for positive creative healthy eating. They explored how to transform a client's regular meals into healthy and healing diets meals. We made zuccini pasta with basil pesto dressing and a lightly steamed cabbage tossed in raw pate.

Natascha Henry, our guest teacher for three days, presented cultured foods and created an amazing menu of seed cheese, flax crackers, cultured nori rolls and a variety of sauerkrauts - amazingly delicious.

Second day will be green drinks, smoothies, seaweeds, and soups with another fantastic meal with a raw pasta marinara. Our third day will focus on dehydrated foods, nut and seeds and more. The last day, the students create their own menu, prepare shopping list and host the day.

ESSENE TEACHER JOINS SCHOOL OF NATURAL MEDICINE STAFF

Welcome Natascha Henry! to our School of Natural Medicine teaching staff - a miracle of divine synchronicity that brings the heritage of past years into the blossoming creative present. I have been seeking another teacher to demo depth classes in our Healing Diets II, and another wonderful friend, Wendy the Weaver, suggested Natascha. Low and behold, it turns out while Natasha, while living in Lebanon over 12 years ago, was very ill. One day, in the market place, a man turned to her, gave her his card and said, "I think you need my help." That man, was SNM graduate Ghatfan Safi, who graduated as a Naturopath, Iridologist, Master Herbalist during the 80's when SNM was based in Cambridge, England. She contacted him immediately as was healed through his naturopathic, dietary, herbal, colon cleansing programs, and thus began her interest that led to her studies at The Tree of Life in Arizona.

Natascha, a partner of New Paradigm Healing in Boulder, Colorado, with her husband Ronald Henry DC, is a graduate of Gabriel Cousens' Human School of Living Arts, with a masters degree in Spiritual Nutrition. She is also a certified raw gourmet chef and instructor.

Ghatfan Safi is an honored and respected practitioner and educator in Beirut, has a TV show, and is renowned for his inspiration as a living example of natural therapeutics. He also co-created Dictionary of Iridology & Iridology Coloring Book with Farida Sharan in the 80's, books available from School of Natural Medicine in Boulder, Colorado and SNM UK.

I always enjoy my classes with Farida and each time it winds up being the right time for me to take it I plan on using the information personally and with the service learning health-focused tools / programming that I am helping to develop at Front Range Earth Force, the non profit organization that I currently work for. I will also use the information with the additional health organizations that I am involved in.

EVA: “Slower, but more wholistic. At fist my hungry impatient mind was craving more information. I am very curious and eager to learn and sometimes have to force myself to not be studying something all the time. I recognize now how “keeping the mind occupied with interesting information keeps me from going time to go within explore my feelings an just be still within myself. Emphasizing our awareness about our own experience with the topics that we’re studying gives it so much more depth. It is a lot about being honest to ourselves, accepting to explore what is painful and uncomfortable and committing ourselves to keep working through it step by step.

I understand now a lot more how crucial it is to explore and comprehend the forces behind our own habits and daily choices. And only by shifting them within myself can I understand the process, the challenges and hurdles we run into, and what other people are facing when they seek help. Before I thought that it was mainly a ‘question of discipline’ but now I ask ‘what is behind that lack of discipline?’ I also ask ‘would it really have to be about discipline if I just joyfully and naturally made the very best choices for myself all the time? Its interesting to me, how I don’t have any particular digestive problems or symptoms on a physical level an still I see so much of my imbalances reflected in my relationship with food.

There are so many dimensions to food / nourishment and it was very valuable for me to go into the topic ‘nourishment’ on all levels of our being. For me it ultimately came down to everything being vibration. Realizing the importance of taking time to get in touch with my own inner being, with my true needs at any particular moment. What does nourish my being at a particular time? What would be the right form of nourishment? Does it rise or lower my personal frequency? Why does it seem so hard sometimes, just to slow down, be aware, pay attention?

The past days have definitely led me so much deeper into myself and my own journey. We all have to start where we are to integrate all levels of our being. I really appreciate how this way of learning has brought those deeper levels of myself, my needs and pains and themes into my awareness."

 

CHIA SEEDS ENHANCES HEALING DIETS TRAINING

School of Natural Medicine, Boulder, Colorado, Healing Diets Counselor Private Occupational Professional Training begins this Thursday July 29th, and I am enjoying revisiting and exploring old friends, like chia seeds. Back in the 70's at the Rainbow Island Raw Community in the California mountains, we soaked chia seeds, and layered it on our sun Essene bread, for energy, nutrition and endurance as we used to run for hours.

Today, the humble chia seed is all over the web, with pictures and ethnobotanical research - wonderful how the world of natural raw nutrition has grown. Simple Use: soak 1part chia to 9 parts water and keep in the fridge and add to smoothies, salad dressings, spread on flax crackers, grind into a sprinkle, be creative, but use it!!! Ancient South American warriors could run for 24 hours on a small amount of chia seeds due to its remarkable properties to hold water in the system.

Deeper research has also taken me into the world of spices, pesticides, additives, coloring agents. Every time I prepare for a class, it is a new creation. Recently, I am more aware of the cultural influence and currents of control that threaten our rights. Wonderful DVD's, like Food, Inc, Gabriel Cousens Rainbow Diet , and the Rave Diet are fantastic contributions to the world of health. So many knowledgeable and devoted people contributing amazing work.

Last night, I was listening to Krishnamurti on youtube (who I knew in Paris when I was 18 at gatherings with Henry Miller, Lawrence Durrell, Ginsberg, Corso and Orlovsky), and he plainly said, "This culture is filthy. Throw out all the doctors, psychologists, therapists, scientists. They know nothing. There is only each unique body. Don't let anyone tell you what to do."
