SNM ICELAND HEALTH MASTER SCHOOL MAY 2008
Here I am in Iceland again - sitting on the heart of a red stone astrological figure centered in a beautiful carved rock mandala. I'm staying for nearly a month this time - beginning with the Summerhouse holiday with co-directors Lilja and Gitte where Gitte made Mind Maps of all our projects - then teaching a Master Touch Reflexology and a 6 day Immersion completing the first year of Iridology & Natural Medicine studies in our School of Natural Medicine International 3 year Naturopathy Health Master Iceland training in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Lilja had just presented a beautiful booth at the Health Expo, featuring Young Living Essential Oils and signed up 60 distributors, along with two Englishmen who run YLO in London. Gitte was busy catering a living food seminar in Solheimer, 73 year old eco-village retreat center, a fantastic valley with a warm microclimate, its own hot spring and organic gardens and restaurant and beautiful architecture.
As well as the classes I am meeting with students from previous years, dear Iris, Vaka and Magga; taking a day trip to Solheimer where we will be holding our yearly retreat starting in June 2009 as each year graduates along with a swim in my favorite Hveregerthi hot spring and a visit to a cave; potluck and gathering with the 2007 group; enjoying an open house at Yggrasil, the local organic healthfood store, for prospective students, meeting new students entering the 2008 group, an oil gathering and of course our SNM planning meetings. I also usually love to see Kristbjorg, creator of Iceland Nature Essences, who is also a graduate of the Master Iridologist SNM training from 2000 and a teacher in SNM both in Iceland and Colorado. All the SNM Master Iridologist graduates are also having their yearly meeting while I am in Iceland.
While every day is full I also enjoy lovely long walks, hot springs and pools swimming and browsing in the wonderful creative boutiques for felted wool creations and Icelandic fashion, Even better, having tea in Hlomahlind, the organic wireless vegan coffee house/cafe with friends.
Spring is bursting here and the days feel warmly freshly crisp. When you walk past a budding tree the aroma of the green is intoxicating - why? perhaps a combination of the excitement of growth after the long dark winter meeting the pure bright air of an Icelandic spring. It is bright light now till past ten o'clock and the days will continue to lengthen until June 21st solstice when it will be 24 hrs of light - the summer form of the northern lights.
Just bought the latest Sigur Ros album, fantastic, and read the novel, The Blood of Flowers, by Anita Amirrezvani, about a woman carpet maker in 17th century Iran. I delight in the transition times when I can let go of all the known schedules and drift invisibly in time for a while. Enjoy the pics - more later!!!
